Intro to Books that Made me love reading.

Books that made me love reading contest

My wife started to tell me about this contest she was in where you re-read one book from your childhood each month and then review it. Sounded like fun so I am going to give it a try.

I learned to read early before going to school and it never really stopped; albeit slowed to a crawl in my adult years with all the responsibilities and nodding off every page.  I was an avid reader.  I won the local library reading challenge 3 years in a row.  One summer I finished off 83 books in 2 months.  As we were living in a small town and the library was a double wide trailer with bookshelves I ran through my age group very quickly and at 11 was starting on the adult section.  The librarian actually quizzed me when I said I had ready the entire collection of James Bond books before giving me my contest stamps.  This was of course was after I had devoured the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series.

A lot of what I had to read as a child was related to the religion in which I was I was raised.  Bible stories etc.  Aside from that some of my favorites were Judy Blume, Enid Blyton, Asimov, Heinlein, Agatha Christie and Tolkien.
